Airline Rewards Credit Cards

Amongst the many and varied benefits of business credit cards – good airline rewards programs is definitely one of the most popular. And not without good reason; many Australian businesses rely heavily on travel. Particularly businesses with strong links to the quickly developing economies in Asia – expenditure on travel can be one of the most significant expenses incurred year in year out – if not the most significant.

Airline rewards credit cards, like the name suggests, are credit cards that enable you to earn points for every dollar you spend on your credit card which can, in turn, be transferred into airline frequent flyer miles. Thus, if you travel a lot or want to travel, you might want to consider opting for a credit card with a strong focus on airline rewards.

Airline rewards credit cards work in a very simple manner. Every time you use the card, to make a purchase, you are effectively earning frequent flyer miles. As with most airline rewards credit cards, you will earn air miles, every time you spend a dollar on your business credit card. This is obviously important as any way in which you can help mitigate the expenses of your business the better off you will be.

There are also many business credit cards that grant you bonus frequent flyer miles as soon as you sign up for the business credit card. Once you have earned enough air miles on your airline rewards business credit card you can use those miles for free airline tickets and/or upgrading existing tickets. A great use for frequent flyer miles is to trade them in on upgrades to help send your employees on long haul flights in business or first class rather than economy.

There are also periodic special promotional deals that are offered by airline rewards credit cards, that you can take advantage of.

Also, when you shop at retail outlets that are part of the loyalty program associated with your business credit card you can double your points earned from those transactions.

Most airline rewards credit cards are partnered with a number of airlines; thus, when you have earned enough air miles, you could choose to travel with any of these carriers. However, if choose a card that is partnered with only one particular airline, such as the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, you will be able to travel only to those destinations that Qantas flies to. You can also get your points converted into discounts for hotels, and restaurants if you do not wish to use your rewards points for flying – however this is not allowed by many programs in the Australian market.
